Ponte de Lima

The medieval village of Ponte de Lima was granted the status of a town in 1125. Today Ponte de Lima is believed to be the most beautiful town in all of North Portugal. Every second week on Monday there is a big market, a terrific attraction not only for tourists. Also the Portuguese from the whole region come here to buy vegetables, fruits, plants, dried fish (the famous and traditional bacalhau!), as well as animals, furniture, shoes, textiles and many other things.  Ponte de Lima is only a stone’s throw away from the Quinta de Vermil.
